Promoting Agroecology and Organic Farming at the International Fair of Madagascar (FIM 2025)

The GSDM – SYMABIO consortium, a key player in promoting agroecology and organic farming in Madagascar, took part in the event as the implementing consortium for the KCOA Project under the Knowledge Hub for Eastern Africa (KHEA) in the country. The team works to support farmers, institutions, and stakeholders transitioning toward sustainable agricultural practices. The CIP in Madagascar also supported Multipliers of AGROHELP CONSULTING to access a platform to promote the Agroinputs B-NIMO (Neem oil as plant protection) and (Neem cake as fertilizers).

The consortium participated in the International Fair of Madagascar (FIM) to showcase environmentally friendly and efficient agricultural practices. Their stand stood out as one of the few dedicated to promoting agroecology and organic farming, emphasizing the importance of food sovereignty, sustainable production, and economic resilience.

Through exhibitions, engagement with visitors, and dialogue with officials and other stakeholders, the team promoted the benefits and urgency of transitioning to sustainable agricultural systems in Madagascar.

The event was held from 22nd to 25th May 2025, drawing thousands of local and international visitors.

The fair took place at International Center of Conference (CCI) Ivato in Antananarivo, Madagascar, one of the country’s largest venues for trade exhibitions and international events.

Participation in the FIM offered a strategic platform to:

• • 1. Raise awareness on the importance of agroecological and organic practices.
  • 2. Engage the public, private sector, and policymakers on sustainable agriculture.
  • 3. Connect with stakeholders interested in supporting food systems that are healthy, resilient, and economically empowering.
  • 4. Consolidation of the collaboration with partners and giving an opportunity to KHEA Multipliers to exhibit input products B-NIMO (Neem oil, Neem Cake)
  • 5. Give an opportunity to promote the existence of BIOLOJIKA in June 2025

At a time when Madagascar is facing environmental and socio-economic challenges, the work of the GSDM–SYMABIO consortium reinforces the need to produce better, for a stronger economy and a healthier planet.

Through a well-designed exhibition stand and a team of passionate professionals, the consortium engaged visitors with educational materials, success stories from the field, and practical examples of agroecological practices. Their presence was further amplified by interactive discussions and exchanges during side events and networking opportunities.

GSDM&SYMABIO’s participation in FIM 2025 was more than just a presence, it was a powerful statement of commitment to building a sustainable agricultural future for Madagascar. As leaders of the KCOA KHEA project in the country, their efforts continue to pave the way for a greener, healthier, and more food-secure Madagascar.
